T he Passaic High School (PHS) Gardening Club made a meaningful impact on the local community by visiting one of Passaic’s Senior Buildings. The club members worked together to set up raised garden beds for the senior residents, creating a space for them to enjoy gardening and growing their own plants.
The raised garden beds offer the residents an accessible and enjoyable way to stay active, spend time outdoors, and nurture their own greenery. Gardening has long been known for its therapeutic benefits, including reducing stress, improving mood, and encouraging physical activity. For the seniors, this initiative adds a special opportunity to connect with nature and each other.
The PHS Gardening Club, led by dedicated students passionate about cultivating both plants and community connections, regularly engages in projects like this one. Their goal is not only to beautify local spaces but also to encourage sustainable practices and foster relationships within the community.
If you are a PHS student interested in gardening, sustainability, or making a positive impact on the community, consider joining the Gardening Club. You can visit Dr. Karacay in room S301 for more information on how to get involved. New members are always welcome, and no prior gardening experience is necessary – just a love for plants and a desire to give back!
