On Friday, October 24, a group of Passaic High School DECA and Film & Television students joined peers from across the county at the Fall Teen Summit, hosted at William Paterson University. The event, organized by the Passaic County Department of Human Services in collaboration with United for Prevention in Passaic County and the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute, marked the kickoff of this year’s youth-led initiative under the theme: “Generation Glow: The Light Adults Don’t Always See.”
The summit opened with a warm welcome and energizing icebreakers, setting the tone for a day of creativity, collaboration, and purpose. Students participated in workshops and project planning sessions designed to spark ideas for a county-wide video competition focused on mental health awareness and substance use prevention.
Each participating school is challenged to create a 30-second Public Service Announcement (PSA) that delivers a powerful, positive message. Students are encouraged to express themselves through various art forms—poetry, dance, comedy, or music—and to submit a short narrative explaining the inspiration and impact behind their project.
Key dates for the initiative include:
- March 6, 2026 – Final deadline to submit videos and narratives
- May 29, 2026 – Winners announced at the Spring Teen Summit
This initiative not only fosters student leadership and creativity but also empowers young voices to address critical issues affecting their communities. Passaic High School is proud to be part of this meaningful movement and looks forward to seeing our students’ ideas come to life.
